Adult Christian Education Winter Offerings

January 15th through February 19th

BIBLE & THEOLOGY:  Room 23

“The Journeys of Paul”

Join us in this six-week pilgrimage following the footsteps of Paul.  Dr. Meyer will lead us on a study of Paul's three missionary journeys as he laid the foundation for the spreading of Christianity throughout Galatia, Macedonia, Greece, and eventually the entire world.  Teacher:  Pastor Bruce Meyer.

CHRISTIAN TOPICS:  Room 25

“What does the Lord require of you?”

Micah 6:8 is one of the most widely-quoted verses in all the Old Testament.  We have heard the words "to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."  But what do these words really mean?  This six-week study will explore how these commands and a few others apply to our lives, and how our Christian identity should view them.  Come and discuss the mandates of God, and how they affect our relationship with God, ourselves, and each other.  Teacher:  Justin Cazel.  [Justin is a 2010 graduate of Erskine Theological Seminary and a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church.  Presently, he is a Vice President at South Carolina Bank and Trust (SCBT).  He also holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice and an M.S. degree in Education from Florida State University.  He is married and has two children.  We welcome him as a guest teacher!]

INTERACTIONS:  Mildred Crymes Room

“Our Faith Engaged”

This class will explore why we choose as Christians to be intentionally engaged in the world versus set apart from it.  Topics covered will include politics, pop culture, business, community, etc.  Why do we put our faith into action in the world and how can we more effectively do that?  Come join this inviting and interactive class as we explore and discuss these topics and grow in faith together.  Teacher:  Rev. Christi O. Brown.  [Christi recently moved "back home" to the Upcountry from Durham, NC, where she worked at Duke Divinity School with the Leadership Education initiative and served as parish associate at Westminster Presbyterian Church (Durham).  She is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary.  Christi is married and has a daughter.  We welcome her as a guest teacher!]
