Called Fourth
|
"Consider your own call, brothers and sisters…" (1 Corinthians 1:26). With these words, the apostle Paul instructed his friends in Corinth to pay attention and listen to the many ways that God was calling them, both as individuals and as a community. This year, the Youth Group at Fourth Presbyterian Church will be doing just that: considering our own calls. Thanks to the generous gift of a grant from the Fund for Theological Education, we will be able to listen for God's call together in some new and exciting ways. We will actively listen for God's call on our lives studying scripture, serving together in our local community, and hearing the stories and experiences of the amazing members of our congregation. We'll help each other to see how God is at work in the world and in our lives as we gather around the table at meals, travel on retreats, and have fun together at exciting recreation events. Throughout the course of the year we will experience seven different callings that are grounded in scripture and lived through the vocations of the members of Fourth Presbyterian Church:
Stewardship of Creation Welcoming the Stranger Healing and Wholeness Proclaiming the Gospel
Justice and Reconciliation Praising the Lord Guiding Future Generations God is calling us forth into the world to love and to serve. So get ready to hear things that may surprise you! Who knows what God may be calling you do with your life? You'll never know unless you take the time to listen.
