Little Folks News – June, July and August 2008

We are all set for the Little Folks Summer Program. The children are enrolled, teachers are hired, and lessons are planned. The summer program begins Monday, June 9. We have more children registered this year than ever before. In fact, the only spaces I have left are on Friday in the 3’s & 4’s room. Once again, we will have an older class for 5 to 8 year olds along with our regular classes. This older class is for teacher children and returning alumni. Having a place for their children to come makes it easier for my regular teachers to also teach in the summer. The consistency of the same teachers is wonderful for the children. It also makes my job easier by having people already familiar with the goals of the program and who know where all the supplies and equipment are stored. Water play is still going to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We won’t start the water play until June 17. This will give us a week to get to know the new children and give them a chance to get comfortable in their new classes.

Early Stay and Late Stay will still be offered during the summer. As with the regular school year, you must sign up ahead of time for Early Stay and if you are signed up and don’t show up, you will still be charged. We need at least 12 hours notice of a change in plans.

Little Folks will be CLOSED the week of June 2-6. During our break our halls and classrooms will get a new coat of paint! We keep thinking of this as the “new addition”, but it’s actually been ten years since it was painted during the initial construction! This will be the perfect time for the classes to clean out and reorganize their shelves and closets. Who knows what wonderful things might be rediscovered in all of the clutter? The challenge will be to get the rooms put back in order in time for the first day of the summer program.
We will also be CLOSED June 30 through July 4, July 21 through 25 and August 25 through September 1. The FALL PROGRAM will begin the day after Labor Day.

I hope you have a wonderful summer full of friends and family.

Sally
