Pastor Profile: Dr. Bruce Meyer


Bruce Meyer is a graduate of Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and holds a
Master of Divinity degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a
Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Presbyterian Seminary in Chicago. During
his thirty-nine years of ordained ministry, Bruce has served installed positions in
Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. Redirecting his focus of ministry to that of
Transitional Ministry, Bruce completed the two levels of Interim Training in 2001 and
2002 and has served four multi-staffed congregations prior to coming to Greenville. The
First Presbyterian Church, Libertyville, Illinois (Chicago), St. Mark Presbyterian Church,
Ballwin, Missouri (St. Louis), First Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Michigan, and
Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Bruce loves singing and playing
the guitar (especially with the children of the church during the time with children). He
is an avid storyteller, a member of the “Network of Biblical Storytellers,” and has
recently completed writing an Advent adventure for children which he hopes to have
published. A “Cheesehead” from Wisconsin, Bruce enjoys his “Packers,” all kinds of
athletic and musical events, reading, playing cards and cooking.
Bruce and his wife Barbie have four grown children and eight grandchildren. In addition
to being with their grandchildren, Bruce and Barbie love to travel and have hosted
numerous trips to Mexico and Greece. They also enjoy hosting a marriage enrichment
retreat entitled: “Recreating Marriage with the Same Old Spouse.”
